ERP specialist Evolution Business Systems (EBS) has boosted its success with Not For Profit businesses by fostering a user community among its Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central / NAV customers.

Held twice a year, the EBS and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central / NAV User Group attracts finance leaders from the not-for-profit  (NFP) community including Gippsland Lakes Complete Health, Beyondblue, Centacare Ballarat, St Vincent de Paul Society, VACCHO, cohealth, Vicscreen, HousingFirst and Sacred Heart Mission.

The group was established in 2013 with the assistance of Daniel Langelaan, CFO at HousingFirst who envisioned a forum where finance and IT managers from NFP customers of EBS could share experiences of using the technology and learn how to do things better.

It’s an experience that Cathy Branigan said enables EBS to stand out because it understood the needs of NFP organisations. “They are very responsive,” she said. “EBS is very proactive about a lot of things… Their NFP expertise is also getting wider recognition. At our EBS user group, we started with only about five NFP organisations, now we have about 30 NFPs around the table.”

EBS Managing Director, Paul Woods concurred saying the user group added real value for the company’s NFP customers. “In fact, it’s provided a strong differentiating factor for NFPs when deciding to partner with EBS,” he said.

It’s an experience that Chloe Watson, Finance Manager at Gippsland Lakes Complete Health saw as a huge benefit when deciding on a Dynamics 365 Business Central partner. “We went to a user group meeting prior to signing up, and we could see how invested EBS was. As a new customer, they weren’t just selling us a product but making sure that they have customer satisfaction. And that was really evident in the implementation process.” Said Ms. Watson.

“The user group provides a great opportunity for these organisations to come together in an informal setting to hear how others are using the product and to pick up new ideas for how they can make best use of the software.

The EBS and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central/NAV User Group runs every six months at the Microsoft office in Melbourne or online when restrictions prevent in-person events. The agenda typically includes sessions such as the latest product features; Microsoft’s product roadmap; and EBS customers outlining how they have deployed and benefitted from Microsoft Dynamics.

The next EBS and Microsoft Dynamics User Group is scheduled for November 2021.
